Living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) can be extremely difficult. For those who are unaware, BPD is a mental health disorder characterized by intense mood swings and difficulty managing relationships. People with BPD often have an extreme fear of abandonment, a lack of identity, chaotic emotions, and impulsivity.

Although it can be very hard to cope with the symptoms of BPD, there are ways to help manage the disorder. Here are some tips for those living with BPD:

1. Reach out for support: It's important to seek professional help if you are struggling with your mental health. Make sure you speak to someone that understands what you are going through and can provide you with tailored advice. Talking to a qualified counsellor or therapist can also provide helpful strategies for managing symptoms in the long-term.

2. Develop healthy coping skills: Finding healthy ways to deal with difficult emotions is key when living with BPD. Taking time out for self-care activities like meditation, exercise, art, and journaling can be incredibly helpful in processing your feelings and giving yourself space to reflect on your experiences.

3. Create structure: Creating routine activities throughout your day can give you a sense of control over unpredictable emotions that come up from time-to-time due to BPD. Setting aside specific times for tasks like meals, studying or exercise helps keep thoughts focused and prevents unwanted stress from taking hold.

4. Practice mindfulness: Paying attention to our thoughts without judgment is a useful skill that helps reduce reactivity during tough moments brought on by BPD symptoms. Mindfulness exercises help us identify how our feelings influence our behaviour so we don't make rash decisions based solely on emotionality or impulse.

These are just a few tips on managing borderline personality disorder; however, it's important to remember that everyone experiences this condition differently and will require different kinds of treatments depending on their own needs and circumstances. Remember that seeking professional help and creating an individualized plan is the best way to manage BPD effectively over the long-term.
